New Jersey: Chris Christie Would Sign Illegal Immigrant Tuition Bill If State Financial Aid Banned, Officials Say
"New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is prepared to sign legislation easing college tuition costs for thousands of students in the U.S. illegally if the Legislature agrees that these students cannot qualify for state financial aid," the Associated Press reports. "Two administration officials who asked not to be identified say Christie will sign the bill as early as today if the Legislature agrees. The officials spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss the legislation publicly before the governor takes action. The measure extends eligibility for in-state tuition rates to state residents brought to this country illegally as children."
