Xavier University Financial Aid Director Mildred Higgins, known fondly by many as the "Godmother of Financial Aid," will retire today after nearly seven decades administering Title IV student aid -- making her perhaps the most tenured financial aid administrator in history. Mildred retired from Southern University after 40 years and then went on to begin a new career at Xavier University where she has served as Financial Aid Director for 26 years.
