Less than three weeks after a federal report exposed automatic default provisions within the private student lending industry, two U.S. representatives have introduced legislation to stifle the practice. Rep. Tim Bishop (D-NY) and Rep. Peter Welch (D-VT) have introduced H.R. 4511, the Protecting Students From Automatic Defaults Act, which NASFAA supports.
