The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) recognizes that advocacy can be a daunting process. NASFAA’s 2011–12 Federal Issues Committee created A Catalyst for Change: NASFAA's Federal Relations Toolkit to assist financial aid administrators as they work with federal relations staff at their institutions to advocate for improved student aid legislation. The toolkit accommodates institutional differences while offering practical guidance and universally beneficial advice, including a breakdown of the various phases of advocacy, an overview of advocacy stakeholders, and templates for gathering and maintaining critical pieces of information. Using this foundation, NASFAA hopes that any of our interested members will be able to become confident and effective advocates for the issues that matter to their students.
