Committee Responsibilities
Committee and Commission Handbook
Term of Appointment
The term of appointment for committee members is July 1- June 30 annually. Once selected, you will be contacted in advance of July 1 with the committee meeting schedule. Appointees are expected to attend all scheduled meetings, complete assignments in a timely manner, and serve their full term. We ask that you carefully weigh your other personal and professional commitments before committing to be involved in a NASFAA activity, because we'll be counting on you!
Meetings
Much work is accomplished remotely, but some committees hold their initial meeting in conjunction with the NASFAA National Conference in July, which you will be expected to attend. Most committees also hold at least one face-to-face meeting during the year, typically in the fall at our Washington, DC offices. To minimize the impact of your NASFAA involvement on the operation of your office, we try to schedule those meetings for the most convenient times, often over on a weekend.
Divergent points of view should be respected and incorporated in committee decisions and recommendations, and the input of other aid administrators actively sought. Travel expenses related to committee meetings conducted in conjunction with the National Conference are generally not reimbursable for conference attendees. For meetings scheduled apart from the conference, NASFAA will reimburse your expenses in accordance with the approved travel expense policy.
