California: Get Facts on College Aid at Free Modesto Junior College Workshop

Modesto Junior College is holding a free financial aid workshop next month, The Modesto Bee reports. The paper highlights an online tutorial on filling out the FAFSA by the University of California at Santa Barbara that was recently given a Gold Star by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. The Feb. 19 workshop "will include timely information on federal and state grants, fee waivers and scholarships available for MJC or other institutions. ... High school seniors who attend will have the opportunity to qualify for a $1,000 "Cash for College Scholarship" drawing. Computers and financial aid technicians will be available to assist attendees in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid in time to meet the Cal Grant deadline of March 2. Bring student and parent 2012 tax information. Assistance for Spanish speakers will be provided."
