Who will speak for the students?

Student aid removes financial barriers to education. Without effective advocacy, can we promise the children of today an education tomorrow? To turn the tide of educational inequality, we must plan for the future.

The Dallas Martin Endowment for Public Policy and Student Aid will help NASFAA cultivate a strong generation of future advocates who understand the complexities of higher education funding and can fight for students on Capitol Hill and beyond. The endowment will support internships to upper-division undergraduate and graduate students who have an interest in student aid with a particular focus on policy analysis and research. Funds from the endowment will also help establish an Information Resource Center and Library on Public Policy and Student Aid, the first of its kind in the country.

Our goal is to raise $300,000. If every financial aid professional working at a NASFAA-member school and organization donates as little as $25, we'll come close to meeting our campaign goals!

The Dallas Martin Endowment

The Dallas Martin Endowment (DME) was created to enhance NASFAA's public policy research and analysis activities. Dr. Dallas Martin, Jr. dedicated his career to helping students achieve their higher education goals. His was the constant voice of reason when legislation and regulations endangered equity in student aid. Over the course of his 32 years with NASFAA, he united the higher education community around NASFAA's goals to increase access to higher education.

DME was created to honor Dallas's accomplishments and to further NASFAA's mission by supporting research and best practices in public policy and student aid.

"Opening doors of educational opportunity for all qualified individuals is the most honorable goal that anyone could represent," Dr. Martin often said. Through DME, we will grow the next generation of leaders in the student aid arena.
