The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) has developed materials for financial aid administrators, high school counselors, and other interested parties to use when conducting financial aid night presentations. The 2008-09 presentation script and PowerPoint presentation have been streamlined to provide students and families with the information they need about financial aid without overwhelming them. For example, NASFAA has eliminated the detailed discussion of Federal Methodology. The title of the new presentation is What You Need to Know about Financial Aid.

The presentation guide is no longer a full script. Instead, it assumes that the presenter is familiar with the Title IV programs and application process, and presents key points in a bulleted format to guide the presenter through the presentation. The new presentation guide also recommends that presenters provide members of the audience with copies of the 2008-09 FAFSA on the Web Worksheet and the Student Aid Program Summary Chart to use as references during the presentation.

NASFAA has also streamlined the accompanying PowerPoint presentation. Since the audience will have the FAFSA on the Web Worksheet during the presentation, we have eliminated the hard to view screen captures of the worksheet from the slides.

NASFAA is pleased to make available for the first time supplemental presentation materials. These materials address specific topics and may be used in conjunction with the What You Need to Know about Financial Aid presentation or as a stand alone presentation, depending on the needs of your audience. Click here for the supplemental presentation materials.

These materials include:

  • Guide to Planning and Conducting a Financial Aid Night, describing all the steps on how to set up an informative financial aid night
  • What You Need to Know about Financial Aid, is a financial aid night presentation that goes with the PowerPoint slide show (below) that provides the basic information students and parents need to know when applying for financial aid. The presentation and slide show follow the format of the FAFSA on the Web Worksheet.
  • Handouts to help students and parents through the financial aid process [PDFs below].
