Computer Requirements

Participants in LearnStudentAid.org Web-based training courses need to have access to an IBM-compatible personal computer (PC) or a Macintosh computer with the following capabilities:

• Operating system: Windows XP or 2000 or Macintosh X

• Internet connection (via modem or preferably high speed/broadband connection)

• Web browser:
  -- Netscape Navigator 7.1 or higher (for PC)
  -- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or highter (for PC)
  -- Internet Explorer 5.2.2 (for Macintosh)

• Java:
  -- We recommend that you use Sun Microsystems Java v. 5.0. To test which version of JVM is running in your web browser, go to http://www.javatester.org/version.html. Your current version of JVM will be displayed in the rendered PINK box. If you are not currently using Java v. 5.0 you can download a free version of Java v. 5.0 at http://www.java.com/en/download/download_the_latest.jsp.

• An e-mail account, either personal or business, that is available uniquely to the learner. Please don't use a general office e-mail address that is shared, since your progress in LearnStudentAid.org courses should be viewable only by you.

• 512 MB of memory (RAM)

• Monitor and video card capable of SVGA graphics (1024 x 768) resolution or higher

• Adobe Acrobat Reader (free download from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html)
