About NASFAA

The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) is the only national, nonprofit association with a primary focus on information dissemination, professional development, and legislative and regulatory analysis related to federal student aid programs authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended. Our membership consists of more than 29,000 financial aid professionals at nearly 3,000 colleges, universities, and career schools across the country. NASFAA member institutions serve nine out of every 10 undergraduates in the United States.

Our Vision

NASFAA's vision is to ensure all qualified students have access to postsecondary education, no matter their socioeconomic background.

Our Mission

NASFAA's mission is to:

  • provide essential professional development, information, and services to financial aid administrators.
  • advocate for public policies that increase student access to and success in postsecondary education; and
  • nurture community and belonging throughout the financial aid profession.

We are committed to diversity throughout all activities.

Our Positions and Advocacy Efforts

As a nonpartisan organization, NASFAA works closely with lawmakers on both sides of the political aisle. Our advocacy efforts are guided by 10 core principles that reflect our belief that the purpose of student financial aid is to ensure everyone has equal access to postsecondary education. Most often, NASFAA advocates in two separate arenas: in the context of reauthorization of the Higher Education Act and in the budget and appropriations process. Our Values

NASFAA is committed to diversity throughout all activities and to pursue and promote, in principle and practice, the diversity and inclusion of our membership to represent the profession and the students we serve. NASFAA ensures that members, leadership, and staff all uphold the utmost ethical principles. We require our members to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and exemplify the highest level of ethical behavior in helping students and families find the best ways to pay for college. Association leadership and staff also pledge to uphold the most thorough and rigorous ethical standards. As such, the association urges all stakeholders to review and adopt our ethical and conduct-focused guidelines.
