June 21, 2018 - Get in the Game! Earn Points to Win Prizes at the National Conference
Each time you access the NASFAA Conference App and take certain actions—like downloading a session handout, connecting with a conference sponsor or exhibitor, connecting with other attendees, etc.—you will earn points. QR Codes will be at each exhibitor’s booth, so you can learn about new products and services and earn points at the same time. The person with the most points at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27 will win a free 2019 National Conference registration, second place will receive a 2019 NASFAA Leadership Conference registration, and third, fourth, and fifth place winners will receive a complimentary NASFAA U online course registration.
June 19, 2018 - 2018 NASFAA Conference App Now Available
The official 2018 NASFAA Conference App is now available - visit startmp.com/nasfaa2018 from your phone or mobile device to get started. This year’s version includes Registration Fast-Pass to check in easily at self-service stations (if your registration fee is paid in full); agenda; session handouts and evaluations; exhibitor lists and locations, and more. Mark items as favorites or export them to your device’s calendar to create your customized schedule and share your experiences with in-app connections. Use the app to earn points to win great prizes—you’ll get 10 points just for downloading. Download the app for iOS or Android; a web version is also available. You will be required to log in using your myNASFAA account and must be a registered attendee.

You’ve likely heard about the Standards of Excellence Review Program, but it's our peer reviewers who really make this program shine. Many of our team members will be at the NASFAA conference bolstering their own knowledge, but will also be at the SOE booth to chat with you. Stop by Booth 341 to meet the team!
This year, NASFAA is doing its part to reduce paper pollution by foregoing the printed program usually provided upon arrival at the NASFAA National Conference in favor of printable PDFs. NASFAA thanks its platinum conference sponsors for their support of this effort. The Conference Schedule, Conference Session Descriptions, Conference Exhibitor Descriptions, and the 2017 Annual Business Meeting Minutes are now posted and available for download. Please print only what you need and don't forget to bring it with you to Austin. These items will also be accessible for viewing in the official NASFAA Conference App, which will be released in the coming days.
Austin is a friendly town and the locals are ready to help you explore on your free time. The Austin CVB (Convention and Visitor's Bureau) will be on-site during the conference near the registration area on Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with brochures, maps, and eating suggestions. The Visitor's Center — at 602 E. Fourth Street, just across the street from the convention center — is open seven days a week if you are coming in early or staying after the conference. June 12, 2018 - Great Programming Despite Great Distances: Introducing NASFAA Live

On Monday, June 25 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. NASFAA will hold five separate town hall events to give attendees at the 2018 NASFAA National Conference the opportunity to discuss issues with others in their sectors and let NASFAA board members and staff know of challenges administrators may be facing. There has been a significant amount of movement toward the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act this past year. During this Monday morning session, NASFAA President Justin Draeger, Vice President Megan Coval, and Assistant Director of Federal Relations Stephen Payne will review draft legislation, related advocacy efforts, and discuss the likelihood of a reauthorization bill happening this year. June 7, 2018 - NASFAA Needs You—Volunteers in Austin Can Earn a One-Day Pass to the 2018 Conference
Volunteers are needed Monday and Tuesday, June 25-26 at the 2018 National Conference in Austin to assist at the information booth and in the convention center at key assigned areas for directional purposes. Volunteers who work for 4.5 hours or more will receive a complimentary, one-day pass to attend conference sessions on any day of their choosing. The pass does not include meals or evening receptions and is non-transferable. To learn more and select a volunteer opportunity, visit the volunteer page. New for the 2018 NASFAA National Conference, registered attendees will have three options for pre-conference sessions on Sunday, June 24 in Austin, TX. These sessions are included with your registration fee at no additional cost. NASFAA U is pleased to offer two in-person courses on Verification and Return of Title IV Funds. Conference attendees who participate in either course will receive a voucher for the associated credential test. The third exciting option is our Diversity Event on Implicit Bias, led by featured speaker Lena Tenney.

The NASFAA National Conference offers great program and training opportunities but attending for the first time can be an overwhelming experience, even more so if you are attending alone. The 2018 Conference Mentor Task Force has been hard at work developing events for our first-time attendees, with Amy Berrier from the University of North Carolina Greensboro serving as the task force chair. May 22, 2018 - Last Call for Room and Registration Cancellations
If your plans have changed since you booked your room or registered for the 2018 NASFAA National Conference, act now. Tomorrow is the last day to cancel your room without penalty and Thursday, May 31 is the last day to cancel your conference registration. If you have had a change of plans, please go online to cancel your room and/or complete the Conference Cancellation & Change of Attendee Form. If you do not cancel your registration by 5:00 p.m. ET on May 31, you will be responsible for the full amount of the registration fees and will be billed.
Serving the needs of undocumented students can be a challenge for even the most seasoned financial aid administrators. With mixed and vague messages coming out of various federal agencies and the presidential administration, many have wondered about the current and future prospects of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. May 16, 2018 - We Need You — Sign Up to Be a 2018 Conference Mentor in Austin
The 2018 Conference Mentor Task Force has been hard at work developing events for our first-time attendees, with Amy Berrier from the University of North Carolina Greensboro serving as the task force chair. The task force is currently seeking NASFAA members who will attend the 2018 conference to serve as conference mentors to ensure first-time attendees have a positive conference experience. If you want to serve in this capacity, please review the task force charter and complete this short online form by June 11. The task force will contact mentors with their mentees assignments in mid-June.
Bring your breakfast, your beverage, and your burning questions on Monday morning to the Learning Lounge during the National Conference next month. NASFAA is offering two sessions to highlight how peer evaluations through the Standards of Excellence Review Program has helped over 240 schools remain in compliance with Title IV aid, and provides answers to nine common questions about federal program reviews.
The Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE) has approved NASFAA interest sessions for 12 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). For every hour spent in one of the approved interest sessions, you will receive one hour of CEU credit up to 12 hours. When you register for the NASFAA Conference, please indicate "Yes! I want to earn AFCPE CEUs." If you have already registered and did not indicate your intent to earn CEUs but would like to, please email email@example.com. Upon completion of the conference, each participant must complete the Proof of Participation section on the CEU Form, using the code NASFAA2018.

As required in NASFAA’s Bylaws, NASFAA’s annual Business Meeting and Awards Luncheon will be held at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26 at the NASFAA National Conference in the Ballroom of the Austin Convention Center. The meeting will include an awards presentation, remarks of appreciation and recognition, reports on NASFAA’s financial status, governance and oversight, and diversity efforts, and the passing of the gavel from 2017-18 National Chair Billie Jo Hamilton to 2018-19 National Chair Lori Vedder.
Several Department of Education (ED) interest sessions will be offered at the 2018 NASFAA National Conference in Austin and the popular "Ask a Fed" table will be set up in the exhibit hall so you can stop by to discuss Title IV-related questions with ED staff. February 1, 2018 - Volunteer to Serve on the 2018 Conference Mentor Task Force
Attending the NASFAA National Conference for the first time can be an overwhelming experience, even more so if you are attending alone. We want attendees to have a great time and come back year after year. While NASFAA has always hosted a welcome reception for first-time attendees and other networking events, we continue to look for creative ways to help first-time attendees connect with colleagues. All members of this task force will be required to attend the 2018 NASFAA Conference and participate in conference mentor activities just prior to the conference and on-site.
