Updated 2008-09 Specifications For Software Developers

Publication Date: March 28, 2006

Summary: Availability of Updated 2008-2009 Specifications for Software Developers

Federal Student Aid is alerting schools, servicers and third-party software developers that we have posted an updated version of the Specifications for Software Developers for the 2008-2009 cycle.

This updated version adds reject suppression edits that can be set by financial aid administrators (FAAs) for Reject Codes 3, 4, 12, and 20 (4059-4062). The omission of these reject suppression edits from the prior versions of the Specifications for Software Developers for the 2008-2009 cycle caused confusion for servicers who received Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs) in which FAAs had overridden the reject codes.

The 2008-2009 Specifications for Software Developers is available in PDF format on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site, located at http://ifap.ed.gov. For readers who are viewing this message electronically on IFAP, the document is provided as an attachment to this message. Otherwise, to view, print, or download the document from IFAP, go to http://ifap.ed.gov and click on "Application Processing Materials" from the right side of the home page.

The specifications will also be available in the next several days from the Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site, located at http://fsadownload.ed.gov. To locate the specifications for viewing or downloading from the FSAdownload home page, select the "Technical References and Guides" link, then select "2008-2009" under "CPS Test System."

If you have questions related to the specifications, please contact Teri Hunt, Macro International, at Teri.Hunt@macrointernational.com or at 301/572-0263.
