AMERICUS, Ga.--Georgia Southwestern State University is prepared to assist college students who want to continue their education, but have been displaced from their home campuses by the Hurricane Katrina devastation.
President Michael L. Hanes, Ph.D., has announced that GSW is prepared to accommodate transfer students in upper division classes in most majors. "We will facilitate the admission of transfer students who can document admission at one of the institutions in the affected area," Hanes said. "Our faculty are prepared to assist students in ‘catching up’ since we are now finishing our third week of classes."
Hanes added that the University could accommodate approximately 100 transfer students in overflow housing on campus.
"It is important that the nation’s educational community reach out to the students in need during this time of crisis," Hanes said. "We look forward to providing assistance."
