The UCSF School of Nursing and the UCSF Medical Center are ready to assist nurses who have been displaced from graduate nursing programs (MS, PhD) by Hurricane Katrina and/or the aftermath. We realize many RN graduate students are volunteering their services in the affected areas and/or caring for their own families and others in areas where affected residents have sought refuge.
When nurses are ready to continue their graduate education, if the student’s home university or college is still not able to accommodate students, UCSF is pleased to offer assistance. The School of Nursing offers Master’s study in over 20 specialty areas and an individualized, research intensive doctoral program in nursing. Our faculty and staff are ready and willing to develop an individualized plan of study to help fill the gap until the student’s home campus is ready to re-enroll. Additionally, the UCSF Medical Center is willing to offer temporary and regular employment for displaced RNs. We can offer temporary housing solutions for displaced RN students and their families.
