Watching the Senate Mark Up the 2013 Education Spending Bill
June 14, 2012 -- Today was a big day, as the Senate Appropriations Committee marked up the fiscal year 2013 Labor-HHS-Education spending bill and then approved the bill to be considered by the full Senate.
The bill proposed a few changes in programs and their funding, including the Pell Grant, Subsidized Loans, and COA for distance education. I contributed to an article posted on NASFAA’s Today’s News summarizing the Senate bill, so I had to acquaint myself well with the different aspects of the bill. It was a very informational task! Unfortunately, it is not likely that anything will come of the bill anytime soon.
