State & Regional Workshop Kit

Fall Training WorkshopsEach year in autumn,  our Training and Professional Development Committee publishes a course instructor kit on current aid administration topics. We distribute it to state and regional associations to provide in-person and online training to financial aid professionals in their area.

2011 Topic: Satisfactory Academic Progress

Is your school in compliance with the new Satisfactory Academic Progress regulations that went into effect on July 1, 2011? Although there have been a number of training opportunities on SAP last year in preparation for the implementation of the new regulations/guidelines, this topic continues to raise questions as policies are implemented. Our 2011 Fall curriculum covers the regulatory changes, tackles implementation issues, and includes sample policies and procedures.

The course will help participants:

  • Understand the basic principles of the new federal SAP requirements that went into effect July 1, 2011 and how they differ from previous federal regulations
  • Evaluate your institutional SAP policy and make appropriate changes to comply with the new regulations
  • Evaluate your institutional SAP business processes and make appropriate changes to comply with the new regulations
  • Identify opportunities for cross-campus collaboration to strengthen institutional compliance with the new regulations.
The Fall 2011 Workshop series has concluded. NASFAA members can access the instructor kit for free. Stay tuned for news about the Fall 2012 Workshops!

Training Delivery

We provide this training material to state and regional associations at no charge.  We plan to complete and deliver this year's curriculum by the end of September.

We encourage you to deliver this training to your members in whatever format works best for your constituency and allows your trainers to tailor the session to meet your association’s needs. Last year, associations used webinars, in-person workshops, and sessions offered at the state and regional conferences.

If you have questions, please contact your region’s representative on the committee.
