ED Extends 12/31 Coronavirus Indicator Deadline

The Department of Education (ED) is extending the timeframe for schools to add the Coronavirus Indicator for disbursements of Title IV funds for the 2020–21 Award Year until September 30, 2021 because of the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the September 23 Electronic Announcement and its attachment, schools previously had until Dec. 31, 2020 to set the Coronavirus Indicator on all disbursements that qualify for COVID-19-related withdrawal relief under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

There has been no change to the deadline to add the Coronavirus Indicator for disbursements from the 2019–20 Award Year; schools should add the Coronavirus Indicator to those qualifying disbursements no later than Dec. 31, 2020. Head to NASFAA's AskRegs for more information on this.
