Leadership Conference

Planning for the 2019 NASFAA Leadership & Legislative Conference & Expo is underway! NASFAA is looking for volunteers to join a task force focused on building the program for each of four pathways: Association Management, New and Aspiring Aid Directors, Strategic Enrollment Management, and the new Advanced Topics in Financial Aid Leadership track. Members of the task force will participate in conference calls and emails from August 2018 through March 2019. Read the full task force charter and, if interested, apply to volunteer by Wednesday, August 1.

Have you changed jobs recently? Are you newly retired? Have you won an award, or started a new initiative on campus? Let NASFAA and your colleagues know about your career developments in 2017-18 by completing the "Movers and Shakers" form by Wednesday, August 1. Once everyone's updates are compiled, NASFAA members nationwide will see your update in NASFAA Now, our 2017-18 Annual Impact Report, distributed in fall 2018.

2018 SOE CI

October 1 is a big deadline for consumer information reporting and disclosure requirements. Specifically, schools must report gainful employment data and publish security, fire safety, and athletics reports. Is your school ready? NASFAA's Consumer Information (CI) Assessment can identify issues with past disclosures or reports, and help you make improvements in the future. Request more information about the CI Assessment review today.

x - NOTABLE HEADLINES

"Student aid advocates who hoped to see a substantial boost to the Pell Grant will have to settle for a modest increase -- if any -- in a 2019 congressional spending package," Inside Higher Ed reports. "A Senate education funding package that cleared the appropriations committee last month would add $100 to the maximum value of the need-based grant, not enough to even keep pace with inflation. And a spending proposal approved by House appropriators last week would keep the maximum grant flat."
