ED Kicks Off Outreach to Students Impacted by Argosy, Art Institute Closures

The Department of Education (ED) on Thursday detailed its outreach plan for students affected by the closure of nearly two dozen Argosy University and Art Institute campuses. ED said in a release it has emailed students and posted information online outlining resources available to students, such as transfer fairs. ED is also in the process of cancelling federal student loans disbursed for the current term and adjusting those students' loan balance accordingly. The agency is also contacting students to explain why the cancellations are occurring. ED has also provided information online with regard to automatic loan cancellation, obtaining academic records, applying for loan discharge, and other common questions. Students affected by the school closures can also visit NextStepsEd.org—a website operated by NASFAA—where students can explore their options in more detail, or connect with a volunteer, practicing financial aid administrator.
