2019 in Review

In 2019, NASFAA and its members across the country made great strides in influencing important policy decisions regarding college access, affordability, simplification, and transparency. NASFAA engaged in numerous advocacy, grant-funded, and public policy undertakings to support its mission of promoting programs that remove financial barriers and ensure student access to postsecondary education.

If you determine before or at the beginning of a payment period that a student is not maintaining satisfactory academic progress (SAP) but you reverse that decision after the end of the payment period, you may not pay the student a Federal Pell Grant for the completed payment period. Institutions may submit FISAP corrections until 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019. Data can be entered and saved as a school makes corrections. If corrections are made, remember to submit them. Transmissions must be completed prior to midnight. After the Dec. 13, 2019 deadline for submitting corrections, approval of FISAP change requests is limited and reserved for exceptional issues only.

Every year, NASFAA recognizes outstanding members and other higher education stakeholders for their achievements and contributions to financial aid, students, and/or NASFAA. Nominate your colleagues for awards such as the Gold Star Award, the Robert P. Huff Golden Quill Award, and the Allan W. Purdy Distinguished Service Award, among others. Award winners will be announced next summer at the NASFAA 2020 national conference in Las Vegas, NV. Nominations are due Feb. 14, 2020 — submit yours today!
