Inceptia. Students have plenty on their minds. Add the stress of repayment deadlines and it is the critical decision-making moments that are the difference between if, when, and how they take their next educational steps. Inceptia can extend your reach to reduce repayment concerns and melt with targeted plans to help deliver specific messages to current and prospective students.

NEWS FROM NASFAA

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra is suing the Department of Education (ED), citing a failure to implement the Temporary Expanded Public Service Loan Forgiveness (TEPSLF) program, which joins a number of challenges to the program’s implementation, increasingly raised since the creation of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.

Scammers are taking advantage of the ongoing pandemic in attempts to obtain students’ financial and personal information, in some instances posing as financial aid offices. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued a warning last week notifying students that suspicious emails claiming to be from the “Financial Department” at their respective institutions are advertising how to receive the economic stimulus check.

x - COVID-19 ASKREGS

No. Effective with publication of the Interim Final Rule on June 17, 2020, only students who are or could be eligible to participate in the Title IV programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA) [20 USC 1091(a)], may receive HEERF emergency grants to students. View the full answer to this question to learn more and search for answers to your other pressing regulatory and compliance questions, in NASFAA's AskRegs Knowledgebase.

Yes. There is no exception in the May 15, 2020 Electronic Announcement guidance for unofficial withdrawals. Therefore, the R2T4 waiver applies to all official and unofficial withdrawals during the payment period or period of enrollment within the covered period, even those who withdrew before the COVID-19 related disruption on campus or before March 13th in the payment period that includes March 13, 2020. AskRegs

Yes, but it gets complicated. Remember, distance education is not covered under the CARES Act, so the March 13 date is not a factor when discussing the distance education flexibilities. The timeframe for the distance education flexibilities applies to payment periods that overlap March 5, 2020, or that begin on or between March 5, 2020 and December 31, 2020. Deadline Extended: NASFAA Seeks Feedback on Professional Judgment Requests

NASFAA earlier this week sent an email to the designated primary contact at each NASFAA member institution seeking feedback on how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the number of professional judgment requests your office will, or has already, received related to estimated family contribution and cost of attendance, and what tools and resources would be helpful in managing such requests. The deadline to complete this survey has been extended to 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, June 5. The information you provide below will be used to inform NASFAA’s conversations with the Department of Education and congressional staff. Responses will only be shared in the aggregate, and individual institutions will not be named.
