NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

As students and families across the country deal with the financial implications of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, professional judgment (PJ) requests have already begun increasing at many institutions. Given the role those requests will play in the fall, NASFAA released an updated Monograph on PJ as it relates to eligibility determination and need analysis. This publication discusses various ways of exercising professional judgment. It is not intended to be all-inclusive, but to provide financial aid administrators with guidelines or suggested alternatives that may be exercised in determining eligibility for federal financial aid and in analyzing a family’s reasonable ability to provide for postsecondary educational expenses. Review the full document and browse other Monograph publications from NASFAA.
