A group of Senate Democrats on Thursday asked the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to conduct a study on food insecurity at U.S. colleges and universities.

The Trump administration has until March 2 to decide if it will continue to enforce the Obama administration's ban on the collection of certain student loan fees, according to a federal court order issued last Thursday night. The order, issued by U.S. District Court Judge Amit P. Mehta, is in response to a legal challenge of the 2015 guidance that prohibits guaranty agencies that collect federal backed loan from imposing collection fees when a borrower defaults but agrees to start repaying quickly. The lawsuit was brought against the Department of Education by former guaranty agency USA Funds, which argues that they are permitted to collect such fees under the Higher Education Act.
