Annual COHEAO Meeting Will Be Held in Arlington, Va. Jan. 25-28

On January 25-28 the Coalition of Higher Education Assistance Organizations (COHEAO) is holding its annual meeting at the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City in Arlington, Virginia.

The conference will include sessions on educational opportunity, speeches from key members of Congress, and congressional staff commenting on appropriations and on the upcoming Higher Education Act reauthorization. It will also feature panels focusing on information safeguarding, consolidation loans, and the latest in technology.

Among this year's session and keynote speakers:

  • NASFAA's director of congressional relations, Larry Zaglaniczny and NASFAA Member Ellen Frishberg, director of financial aid for Johns Hopkins University speaking on "School as Lender"

  • David Warren, president and CEO of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU) speaking on "Major Reauthorization Initiative: Coalition for Better Student Loans"

  • Jeff Debrozsi from House Education Committee Chairman John Boehner's office, Joan Huffer from Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle's office, and Cheryl Smith of the House Appropriations Committee, speaking on the "Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act"

  • John Dean of Dean, Blakey, and Moskowitz and special counsel for the Consumer Bankers Association (CBA), and Lori Whipple of Iowa State University speaking on "Consolidation Loans: Benefit or Bane?"

The conference cost for COHEAO Members is $495 for pre-registration and $510 for on-site registration. For non-members pre-registration costs $550 and on-site registration costs $565.
