Subject: Availability of the 2003 Child Care Provider Loan Forgiveness Application

Dear Partners:

We at the U.S. Department of Education's Federal Student Aid (FSA) office want to inform you of the availability of the 2003 Child Care Provider Loan Forgiveness (CCPLF) Application. This OMB-approved form is available for immediate use. We have attached a copy of the application for your convenience. New applicants and applicants who previously received loan forgiveness under this CCPLF Program may use this application in applying for CCPLF benefits.

CCPLF Program will accept completed applications until the funds appropriated for Fiscal Year (FY) 2003 have been fully committed but no later than September 15, 2004.

As you know, the Higher Education Act of 1965 provides for a CCPLF Demonstration Program under which the Secretary repays eligible loans on a first come first serve basis and subject to the availability of appropriation. Up to 100 percent of a borrower's loans made under the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program and the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program may be forgiven in annual increments based on years of qualified service. The Congress has appropriated, in the Consolidated Appropriation Resolution of 2003, enacted on February 20, 2003 (Pub. L. 108-7), $994,000 for new applicants under the demonstration program for FY 2003.
