FAMU Uncovers Financial Aid Woes (Tallahassee Democrat)

"Florida A&M University administrators completed a 68-page report Friday which serves as a response to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools," the Tallahassee Democrat reports. "SACS placed FAMU on probation for six months for being out of compliance with 10 standards such as: management of dollars and hiring qualified administrators and academic officers. While preparing the report, administrators discovered $26,678 in misused financial aid. As noted in the report, 'Without strong reconciliation practices, inadequate awards were made, resulting in overpayments or underpayments.'"
