Midwestern University Scholarship Program Praised For Effectiveness

DOWNERS GROVE, IL (July 17, 2007) - Midwestern University recently received recognition from the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) for its Need-Based Scholarship Program. As part of the recognition, the IBHE will feature Midwestern University's program in its "effective practices" segment of their Web site http://www.ibhe.org. Inclusion in the effective practices segment represents a state-wide effort for college and universities to share their best practices and further enhance service to students and the community.

Over the past two years, Midwestern University has offered more than $2.5 million in financial aid support through the Need-Based Scholarship Program as part of its commitment to developing unique financial aid programs to assist students. Incoming and returning students from each of the University's five colleges are eligible to receive scholarship funding through this program. Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate the most significant financial need.

The University awarded 500 students each $1,500 scholarships for total of $750,000 during the 2006/2007 academic year. This year, the University awarded 500 students each $3,500 scholarships for a total of $1.75 million dollars.
