Financial Aid Perspectives: NCHELP President Brett Lief Talks About Student Loan Credit Crunch (Audio Podcast)

Brett Lief, president of the National Council of Higher Education Loan Programs, speaks with NASFAA's Justin Draeger on the student loan credit crunch and what it might mean for students and families this fall. Lief talks about whether we can expect to see more loan providers leaving FFEL, why some lenders are expanding while others pulling back, and whether he feels some lenders might be limiting access by selectively lending to certain students and certain institutions. Lief, a veteran on student aid issues and a former financial aid administrator, offers suggestions on what financial aid administrators should be saying to students and families about the availability of student loans.

"Financial Aid Perspectives" is NASFAA's new podcast series where different points of view from the financial aid and higher education communities will be presented on issues relevant to postsecondary access. Music from this podcast comes from David Gielan's "Beautiful in Gray," podcast safe music and was released under Creative Commons.
