Join The College Goal SundaySM USA Listserv

If you're interested in expanding postsecondary access to special populations such as first generation students, ethnic minority groups, youth from foster care, and other disadvantaged youth, join a virtual community of College Goal SundaySM (CGS) volunteers on the CGSUSA-L Listserv. Our Listserv will feature best practices as well as a wide variety of resources, questions, news, views, opinions and actions related to CGS and other college access initiatives. In addition to being a discussion forum, the Listserv will provide announcements of Web-based financial aid training opportunities, including HEA updates.

The College Goal SundaySM program was created by the Indiana Student Financial Aid Association with funding from Lilly Endowment, Inc. and with supplemental support from Lumina Foundation for Education

How To Sign Up

It's easy to join the College Goal Sunday Listserv. Just send a message to CollegeGoalSundayUSA@NASFAA.org with "CGS Listserv" in the subject and an administrator will add you to the list. If you have colleagues or friends who may be interested, consider asking them to join as well. The Listserv is designed to be a source of knowledge, new ideas and new thinking about the role of CGS in assisting students and families. You can help us to make this vital community and program grow.

How To Post Messages

To post messages to the Listserv, just email your message to CGSUSA-L@LISTSERV.NASFAA.ORG. When posting, add brackets denoting CGS, [CGSlist] and clearly state the subject of your posting. For example:

    To: CGSUSA-L@LISTSERV.NASFAA.ORG
Subject: [CGSlist] Evaluations: How do you make sure families complete the form?

Clarity will be crucial as activity on the Listserv increases. Brackets and clear titles will allow busy readers to choose which messages are of most interest.

What is College Goal Sunday

The College Goal Sunday program is a volunteer-run program that assists low-income families and first-generation students with the completion of the FAFSA. Since its inception in Indiana as a joint project of the Indiana Student Financial Aid Association (ISFAA) and the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana (SSACI), with funding from Lilly Endowment, Inc., the program has grown to serve more than 28,000 families annually. In fact, based largely on your assistance in grassroots outreach and college access marketing techniques, the program, now funded by the Lumina Foundation for Education includes 37 states plus the District of Columbia. The program focuses on offering FREE financial aid expertise to first-generation and low-income students to assist them in accessing financial aid resources to cover expenses incurred with education beyond high school. In addition to technical assistance, state programs must determine dates and set up local sites that are convenient and comfortable to ensure participation of the target population.
