Fall Training Workshop Materials Now On Sale

If you were unable to attend NASFAA's Fall 2008 Training Series - Aspects of Student Eligibility, you can now purchase the Participant's Handout distributed at the workshops. A limited supply of the materials is available. The materials focus on database matches, verifying veteran status, drug convictions, recent modifications to constructing the cost of attendance (COA), changes to Federal Methodology (FM), and the impact of institutional policies on student eligibility. A "head's up" about reauthorization changes is included within each topical area.

NOTE: NASFAA's Value and Value Plus Members will receive directions on how to download a complimentary electronic copy of the Fall Training materials. The ability to download a copy is one of the many benefits of the Value and Value Plus memberships.

The Materials:

  • Provide an overview of the various database matches used to verify that a student meets certain general student eligibility criteria, highlighting recent changes.

  • Explain how to document whether or not a student meets the definition of a veteran for Title IV aid purposes.

  • Review recent modifications to the construction of the COA and how to correctly implement the changes.

  • Explain in detail recent and upcoming changes to FM. The materials include the expanded criteria by which an applicant may be considered an independent student.

  • Examine the drug conviction component of FM.

  • Discuss the impact of institutional policies on student eligibility.

Cost:

The price for a set of materials is $75 for members and $150 for non-members. NASFAA's Value and Value Plus Members will receive a complementary electronic copy of the materials.
