The National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) recently announced a new turnkey program - "CashCourse" - that allows schools to provide students with the information and resources necessary to learn and practice positive money management habits. NEFE developed the Web site www.cashcourse.org to specifically target college-age students with the new initiative. Schools can become active participants with NEFE and have the program tailored to their own unique brand.
The CashCourse program was designed with students in mind. Portions of the course were written after conducting several focus groups with college students to determine what information would be most useful for them. Representatives from NASFAA collaborated on the project to ensure that financial aid information presented in the program is useful, accurate, and relevant to today's students.
NEFE makes implementation of the program as easy as possible for schools. Schools can simply enroll with NEFE and add a Web link to their existing Web pages.
Schools who participate in the program also receive:
- Access to cashcourse.org
- Dynamic, regularly updated content from NEFE on financial basics, paying for college, and college and work life
- Email content and newsletter articles that can be used to communicate with students
- Other marketing templates (e.g. flyers, print ads, posters) to promote the program
"With students taking on more student loans and credit card debt before they complete school, CashCourse is a great ally for college students and recent grads to rely on for financial guidance," said NASFAA Vice President of Planning & Development Tim Christensen.
The following schools are already partnering with NEFE to utilize this new program.
- Bowling Green State University
- Canisius College
- College of Saint Benedict & Saint John's University
