Reminder: First TEACH Grant Webinar Today At 1:30 EDT

The new TEACH Grant program begins July 1. Are you ready?

NASFAA is presenting two free Webinars on the TEACH Grant program on April 7 and April 9. These Webinars will help you prepare for this complex new student aid program and understand the implications of the regulations proposed in the March 21, 2008, TEACH Grant Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM). The Webinars are co-sponsored by NASFAA and the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE).

The April 7 Webinar will help you understand the fundamentals of the TEACH Grant program, as well as the proposed regulations and their potential affects on your students and institution.

The April 9 Webinar will focus on the proposed rules for counseling students and the implications of the TEACH Grant program for recruiting students. This Webinar will feature a panel of professionals from both the financial aid and teacher education fields.

Implementation of the TEACH Grant will require extensive coordination between campus offices such as admissions, the registrar, and academic departments. NASFAA recommends that you invite representatives from all of these departments to view the Webinar using your login.

Presenters

  • NASFAA regulatory and technical experts Eunice Powell (moderator), Joan Berkes, and Jennifer Martin
  • Representatives of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE)
  • Representatives from the U.S. Department of Education

In addition to helping you to implement this complicated program, a thorough understanding of the proposed regulations can help you to work with your state, regional, and national associations to comment on the NPRM before the April 25 deadline. Your comments can help ensure that the Department considers both the needs of your students and the operational realities of program when developing the final regulations. We hope you can join us for this event.
