Weak Dollar Crimps Study Abroad (The Wall Street Journal)

"Many college students, hit by sticker shock, are steering clear of Western Europe, especially the United Kingdom, and opting for study-abroad programs in Asia, Africa and Latin America," The Wall Street Journal reports. "Many of those destinations are cheaper to begin with and have currencies that haven't been as rough on the dollar. The move away from Western Europe and the U.K. also reflects the shifting global economy, as developing countries like China, India, and the Middle East have become more relevant in recent years. Far-flung countries in Africa and South America have also become trendier alternatives to traditional European programs."
