Editorial: Better College Loan Business (The Grand Rapids Press)
"More than a year after a scandal involving shady deals between universities and lenders, a new federal law should protect students from being put at risk," The Grand Rapids Press reports. "The Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 went into effect Sept. 1. This is a massive piece of legislation that renews the 1965 act governing federal student aid. These are reasonable changes that should clamp down on the college loan business. Students and their families, many in this arena for the first time, need unbiased advice about loans. Now, more than ever, they need help getting the best deal."
