"Last year, with their attention focused on the student-loan scandal, Congress and the Bush administration imposed new restrictions on the ability of colleges to recommend loan companies to their students," The Chronicle of Higher Education reports. "Now, with its attention on the 'crisis' in student lending rather than the scandals, which highlighted a series of conflicts in the relationship between colleges and the loan companies serving their students, the Bush administration may be easing off to some degree."
