Nevada: Congress Makes Getting Student Loans Easier (Reno Gazette-Journal)
"The economic crisis is sending more Nevada families and students searching for ways to cover their portion of college costs, but recent action by Congress will make it easier for them to borrow tuition money through 2010," the Reno Gazette-Journal reports. "Philip R. Day Jr., president and chief executive of the Washington, D.C.-based National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, said parents and students should not go to private lenders before they find out what money is available to them in free financial aid and low-interest, government-subsidized loans. 'Financial aid is a service that addresses the barriers and obstacles that get in the way of the cost of college,' Day said."
