"When it comes to college education, my parents have always told me, 'Don't worry about the money,'" writes Nikiya Crisostomo, a senior at Clark Magnet High School who will be attending Stanford University in the fall in the Daily News. "This mentality works for my family because of our income. Considered below the poverty line in America, we are offered a lot of financial aid. Last year, it wasn't a problem at all for my sister to attend Stanford University since she was offered a full ride. But as I get closer to the college life, my eyes are opened to the harsh reality of educational expenses. Although I appreciate all the help my family gets, I see my own friends and schoolmates being robbed of getting the best education possible because they don't necessarily fall under the 'poor' category."
