SLM's Headmaster On Lessons Learned (The Wall Street Journal)

"When Albert L. Lord resumed his duties as chief executive of SLM Corp. in December, the student-loan giant commonly known as SallieMae was reeling," The Wall Street Journal reports. "The blunt-spoken executive didn't help matters when, believing a Dec. 19 conference call had ended, he was overheard cursing and expressing frustration after aggressive questioning about Sallie Mae's finances. Recently, Mr. Lord spoke with The Wall Street Journal about the credit crisis, the state of the student-loan market and what lies ahead for Sallie Mae."
