Financial Aid Scam Materials Now Available In Spanish
The recently developed materials that alert students and families to financial aid scams are now available in Spanish. These materials are available in four formats: flyer, poster, Power Point slides, and newspaper ads and can be customized to any college, university, high school, or organization that wishes to provide the information to families and students who are seeking financial aid for higher education expenses.
The materials inform families that information about financial aid and assistance with FAFSA completion is free of charge in every state and informs them that they can easily find help with accessing financial aid resources without having to pay a fee for any of these services. Also added to the materials is a warning that families should not provide their social security number to any organization or service that is unfamiliar to them.
During the financial aid season from January through March, parents and students may receive offers from companies and organizations that charge a fee for FAFSA completion or access to scholarships, however, it is important for families to realize that these services are free.
To access these materials please contact Marcia Weston at NASFAA at westonm@nasfaa.org.
