The Higher Education Opportunity Act was passed by Congress on July 31, 2008, and was later signed by the president on August 14, 2008. The law affects many provisions of the Higher Education Act and impacts all of the Title IV programs to some degree. This Webinar will focus your attention on those changes that NASFAA staff believe you should be most aware of at this point in time. Issues to be addressed include student consumer information and disclosures, provisions that impact veterans and military personnel, the most significant changes to need analysis and student eligibility, and the most important changes to the individual Title IV programs.
Other issues will be addressed in later NASFAA Webinars and training efforts rather than in this Webinar and will include private education loan provisions, application processing and simplification, cohort default rate changes, codes of conduct and preferred lender lists, and loan forgiveness and discharge provisions.
The live Webinar will take place on August 21 from 1:30-3:30 PM. The session will be recorded for those who can not attend the live session or who want to review the material covered in the Webinar. Registration is required for both the live and recorded sessions.
