Meet The Common Data Set Publishers At NASFAA's National Conference

Meet with the Common Data Set (CDS) publishers (U.S. News, Peterson's, and the College Board) and your colleagues from the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) during the 2008 NASFAA National Conference to air your concerns and share your advice on producing quality data on student financial aid!

The session titled, "NASFAA/AIR/CDS Joint Initiative on Financial Aid and the Cost of College" (Session #21) is part of NASFAA Research Committee's on-going efforts to work collaboratively with agencies outside NASFAA to improve information on student financial aid and cost of college.

The ever increasing demand for information, data accuracy, consistency, transparency and clarity are becoming continuously more vital for prospective students and parents, campus administrators as well as policy makers. NASFAA is joining forces with AIR and CDS to find new ways to talk about the cost of college and to provide meaningful information to the public.

We'd like to hear from you. What questions do families typically ask financial aid counselors? What are common misconceptions about financial aid and the cost of college? How does aid vary from college to college? What would it cost for someone like me to go to this college? Are we telling families what they really need to know about paying for college? Those are just a few examples of the questions we shall discuss during this session.

Mr. Robert Morse, Director of Data Research from U.S. News, Dr. Cathy J. Lebo, Assistant Provost of Institutional Research from Johns Hopkins University, Mr. Ronald G. Allan, Assistant to the Dean for Research and Data Services from Georgetown University, Mr. David Smedley, from George Washington University, and Dr. Meihua Zhai, Director of Research and Policy Analysis, NASFAA will be the discussing this topic at the interest session.

Please mark Monday, July 7, 2008 9:00 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. to attend this session.
