Summary: DHS Verification Number Must Be Entered on G-845 Form
As you know, the Central Processing System (CPS) conducts a match of
applicant data with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), a service
of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), to confirm a
student's citizenship status and eligibility for federal student aid.
When this match is conducted, DHS returns the DHS Verification
Number, a 15-digit confirmation number which appears on the Institutional
Student Information Record (ISIR) under "Match Flags" in the
FAA Information section.
If manual Secondary Confirmation is necessary, the school must submit
the Immigration Status/Document Verification Request (G-845) form. The
DHS Verification Number is requested on page 1 of the form (Section A,
#5- Verification Number).
We would like to thank you for submitting the G-845 form with the DHS
Verification Number accurately entered on page 1 and request that you
continue to do so to avoid processing delays. This number is now critical
to the timely processing of the form.
Effective immediately, DHS will contact us if a G-845 form is received
without a DHS Verification Number. We will in turn contact the school
that submitted the form to request the DHS Verification Number and to
determine why it was not entered on the form. We will then forward the
DHS Verification Number to DHS and the G-845 will be processed.
Thank you for your assistance in ensuring the efficiency of the Secondary
Confirmation process.
