Subject: EDExpress Basics - Release of Third EDExpress Basics for 2009-2010
Module
Summary: This letter announces Federal Student Aid's release of the third of
three online, self-paced learning modules on EDExpress Basics for 2009-2010.
The third module covers setting up the software, creating records, and disbursing
for Direct Loan awards using EDExpress.
Dear Colleague:
We are pleased to announce our release of the third module of EDExpress Basics
for 2009-2010, the Web-based training product that teaches users the basic skills
needed to access and navigate the 2009-2010 EDExpress and EDconnect software.
This module focuses on William D. Ford Federal Direct (Direct Loan) awards and
includes lessons that cover setting up the software, creating records, exporting
records, creating disbursement records, and importing acknowledgement of records
sent to the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) System.
The module is available on the Information for
Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site at http://ifap.ed.gov/edexpress/index.htm.
This self-paced training is intended for financial aid office staff with day-to-day
responsibilities that involve using the EDExpress software. By using the software
in a simulated environment, users will gain an understanding of the fundamental
EDExpress and EDconnect functions. As such, this training is a resource for
on-the-job training and re-training in the use of EDExpress.
We plan to release a full version of the training that is compliant with Section
508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act in late August 2009. We will inform
the community of the availability of this version in a forthcoming Training
Announcement posted on the IFAP Web site.
We look forward to your use of EDExpress Basics for 2009-2010. If you have
questions about this Web-based training product, please contact David Bartlett
at david.bartlett@ed.gov or Mark
Gerhard at mark.gerhard@ed.gov.
Sincerely,
Jana Hernandes
