Dear NASFAA Member,
The increased Federal Pell Grant funding in the stimulus package may be in jeopardy. We need your immediate action to contact your Senators and urge them preserve the Federal Pell Grant funding provision in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (H.R. 1). Please call, fax, and/or email your Senators now to ensure college access for America's needy-students. A copy of NASFAA's letter to Senators is attached. Please feel free to use this as a template or draft your own letter.
It is especially important that we contact the following moderate Democrats and Republicans who are currently negotiating changes to the bill including possible Pell Grant program cuts.
These Senators are: Nelson (D-NE), Lieberman (I-CT), McCaskill (D-MO), Udall (D-CO), Landrieu (D-LA), Tester (D-MT), Collins (R-ME), Snowe (R-ME), Klobuchar (D-MN), Webb (D-VA), Shaheen (D-NH), Lincoln (D-AR), Conrad (D-ND), Bennett (R-UT), Warner (D-VA), Carper (D-DE), Bayh (D-IN), Specter (R-PA), Voinovich (R-OH), Martinez (R-FL), Murkowski (R-AK).
Your immediate action could be the extra push needed to ensure that Pell Grant funding remains in the bill. Thanks again for all you do to help the nation's students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Philip Day
NASFAA President and CEO
