Tennessee: Edfinancial Pushes Alternative Student Loan Plan (Knoxville News Sentinel )
"In the face of a White House proposal that could radically alter its business model, a local student financial aid company is pushing an alternative that aims to preserve a role for the private sector," Knoxville News Sentinel reports. "What's the advantage? On Wednesday, Edfinancial Chairman and CEO Tony Hollin said the plan builds on Obama's proposal. A major premise of Obama's plan, he said, is that savings would be realized because the government can borrow money cheaply."
