The MASFAA Conference is an exciting opportunity for members to learn from financial aid professionals from across the Midwest. The variety of topics and expert presenters provide valuable training that is vital for us to remain current on financial aid issues and work effectively to help students finance their education.
Take a look at the agenda on the MASFAA website, and I think that you will agree that we have an attractive lineup of speakers and interest sessions. The theme for this year is ‘Time to Refocus’, and that is just what we had in mind when we booked speakers such as Dr. Barry W. Simmons, Sr., NASFAA National Chair; Brett Lief, President, NCHELP; and Jeff Baker, Director of Policy Liaison & Implementation, Federal Student Aid;; Joan H. Crissman, NASFAA Interim President and CEO, among others. In an effort to stay up to date on current and future technological trends in financial aid, the MASFAA Conference will be offering a number of new sessions this year surrounding computer systems.
With all of the intense training scheduled, our Entertainment sub-committee has arranged a couple of exceptional musical acts to perform for us as we wind down in the evenings. Dinner on Sunday will be followed by a performance from The 'Limestones', an a capella group from St. Olaf College that is sure to entertain. Tuesday night at 8 pm the rock ‘n’ roll music of the 'Johnny Holm Band' can be experienced in the Marriott Ballroom! Of course, there is always the Mall of America or plenty of other shopping and entertainment nearby in Downtown Minneapolis if live music is not your thing.
Be sure to visit the MASFAA Conference website at www.masfaaweb.org/docs/toc_conference.html for more specific information on sessions, registration, and activities. We hope to see you October 18 - 21 in Minneapolis!
