Purdue Students to Benefit From $8 Million Anonymous Gift

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University announced Monday (April 6) that a cash gift of $6 million from an anonymous donor will help fund the university's scholarship program. The donation is the largest single cash gift to date given to Purdue for scholarships.

The university will use the gift to match up to $6 million in donations to support its Access and Success Campaign.

The donor gave an additional $2 million for unrestricted purposes university-wide that will enable the university to invest more resources in achieving the goals of its strategic plan, New Synergies.

"This is an extraordinary gift," President France A. Córdova said. "The mission of Access and Success is to give qualified students access to a Purdue education and provide them the support they need to succeed. This wouldn't be possible without such tremendous support from donors like this anonymous contributor. We are deeply grateful for this generous gift."

Access and Success, a scholarship campaign launched at the inception of Córdova's leadership in April 2007, provides funding for a variety of scholarships and student programs. The gift will support the Presidential and Trustees scholarships, expanding the scope of the Presidential Scholarship criteria to help pursue the university's goals for diversity and inclusion.

To date, $91 million has been raised for the Access and Success campaign.
