Checklist for the Transition to Direct Loans Now Available

NASFAA and the U.S. Department of Education (ED) have collaborated to create the Checklist for the Transition to Direct Loans (PDF). NASFAA is pleased to announce the availability this checklist that will help institutions consider all relevant issues as they prepare for participation in the Direct Loan Program.

The checklist is structured as a series of questions, similar to the format used in NASFAA's Self-Evaluation Guide. A "Yes" response indicates the institution has addressed a particular issue; a "No" response indicates the institution must give more attention to a topic. The checklist has interactive fields, allowing the user to answer questions and save their work without printing the document.

NASFAA and ED hope schools find the checklist helpful as they make the transition to the Direct Loan Program. The checklist, along with other transition resources, is available at NASFAA's Direct Loan Conversion Resource Center.
