NASFAA Updates Special Populations FAFSA Tip Sheet

In response to concerns from the community, NASFAA has updated the information in the 2010-2011 Special Populations: Tips for Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for responding to the homeless youth questions.

While the guidance as originally provided was accurate, it was not sensitive to the situations of this population. The revised language encourages these students to seek assistance first from school liaisons and program directors if they are unsure if they have received a determination of homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless before contacting their school's financial aid office.
