NASFAA Updates Student & Parent Web Site and Education Tax Benefit Guide

Looking for a good source of trustworthy, commercial-free student information for your students on a variety of financial aid topics? NASFAA's Students & Parents Resource Center is a gateway to authoritative and current information about applying for financial aid, saving for college, paying student loans, and more, including a special "Hot Topics" section. We've created or selected some great content, some you may never have seen before!

The Students and Parents Resource Center also includes rotating featured videos from our NASFAA YouTube Channel, a collection of videos we've screened for objective, reliable information about federal student aid, the GI Bill, armed forces scholarships, income tax, and more. The channel also currently features some creative (and educational) student productions that we just couldn't resist adding to our favorites list!

We've also updated the annual Guide to Higher Education Federal Tax Benefits for 2009 and added multimedia. The guide features tax credits (especially the new refundable American Opportunity credit), tax deductions, taxability of financial aid and loan cancellations, and 1098-T forms. We plan to add more sections, on such topics as tax-advantaged savings vehicles, in the coming weeks. Students and parents can access the tax guide directly using the link above, or via www.studentaid.org.

Why re-invent the wheel on your own web site? Link to us at www.studentaid.org. NASFAA will continue to update and improve the content and design of the portal in the coming months.
